Thailand Hidden Economy % of GDP 2009-2019:

I couldn't find any exact figures on hidden economy, but some research I did said there is a lot that comes from street vendors, food stalls and souvenir sales. There is also however, drug sales, gas smuggling, human trafficking and and illegal lotteries. Non of these are pay taxes or are documented.

Observations: 

- GDP and GDP per capita are pretty similar. They both follow an upward trend. 

- Inflation Rate and current amount balance look opposite, but one is measuring a percent change and one is measuring an amount in money so I'm not sure if that's relevant. 

- Real GDP growth per year seems somewhat unpredictable and so does the unemployment rate, although the unemployment rate stays much more steady. 

- The GDP long term trend seems to be going upward, although the growth per year has been much less stable. 

- It looks like there could possibly be a business cycle starting around 2010 and ending in 2016, then another cycle starting in 2016 that was still goin on as of 2019. 2016 is where there is a pretty clear upward trend right after a slight downward slope had appeared.

 Thailand has high tariffs placed on imported vehicles. This tariff is at 80% under the claim that it is needed to help Thailand's economy (Phoonphongphiphat ) . This tariff could have effects on many different people as is illustrated in the diagram below.                                     Figure 1:  Tariff on imported automobiles As shown in the diagram above, before the tariff the price of automobiles is S(world). After the tariff the price rises to S(world + Tariff). Before the tariff the quanitity demanded was at Q2, but Thai producers only produced Q1 of that amount giving them a revenue of E. After the tariff they increase production to Q3 which is the new equilibrium causing their revenue to rise to E + F + A + B.
